Ph1 172 Airbox vs BMC CDA.... ?

  PH1 V6
As the title goes.....

which is better?

would i see any gains from changing my original box to the BMC?

Thanks :)

  Ph1 172 + Combo van
The best is the espace v6 airbox followed by the ph1 172 box.

The BMC isnt very highly rated as far as i know.

Robbos had a bmc cda and swapped it for a v6 airbox. Sure he will be along soon or you could pm him.

Why hello....

I bought my car with a BMC CDA on it, and had never driven another 172, the car felt very fast etc, but when I changed to the v6 airbox setup, the difference was very noticeable, my exhaust is so loud I could hear no difference between the two kits tbh, so I was pretty confident there wasn't much of a placebo...

The car now seems to pull better all the way through the rev range, i.e the BMC seemed to enhance the 5k kick by making it weaker below 5k and the v6 box seems to be smoother right through the revs, very progressive, but saying that, around 5k it feels crazy quick now, love it.

I get the feeling the capacity of the v6 over the BMC really allows the engine to perform to its full extent, as the size difference is hillarious!

thanks very much for the info guys much appreciated.

I have a ph1 box at the moment and having never seen a V6 one, is there a big difference between the two?

Cheers :)

Not overly, I believe the v6 has a bigger internal diameter, and only one large air feed, as opposed to the ph1's two smaller feeds.

After extensive testing by JMS, they discovered the V6 box to give the best results out of the two.
