ph1 172 - road noise - or something else

  Ph1 172
hello all,

my 172 has done 90k miles, i have recently had a really irritating noise coming from the rear wheels, i suspected it was wheel bearings and they had some play in them so i changed them, the discs were not looking great but were looking good enough to go back in so, well i put the new bearings in them and put them back on,

it hasn't cured my problem, its a rumble really which gets louder the faster you go,

could it be some warping of the rear discs or could it be that the tyres are not up to much, they are not of any realy quality but i am reluctant to change to my new wheels until i have cured the noise

any one any ideas or had any experience of this, ?

thanks in advance for any help, advice or opinions

cheers

stu

The only Experiance I have ever had of something like this was on a mates Proton Satria GTI, Once the tyres were changed the issue was resolved, they were just low and making a drone/rumble noise at about 60mph - about 80mph. Cant you borrow a pair of rear wheels with good tyres to check?
