Ph1 172 Vs Corolla TSport

  Megane R26
Hi guys. I've currently got my Black S1 Rallye on ebay and am looking for something a bit more refined and grown up.

I drove my brothers ph1 a couple of years ago and it was great. Recent drive in a standard 172 Cup just backed that up.

Other contender was a Corolla T sport. Has anyone had any experience with these?

Hi,

The T-Sport is a great car. Uncle had one for a few months. But for driving thrills it's a long way away from a Ph1 IMO in every aspect. The 2ZZ is a great engine but the power delivery is mega, mega bland. It's just as quick as a 1*2 but it doesn't feel like it. They feel quite boaty at times and the steering is overly light. Only way to know for sure is if you drive one though.

Scone has pretty much nailed it buddy. They're also fairly thirsty things aswell i'm led to believe but build quality is apparently pretty good!

Personally i'd have the Phase 1 but i really don't mind the t-sport at all!

If I had both to choose from it would be the Clio. The Corolla is more grown up though.

The Corolla isn't a bad car at all, its just not as fun. It lacks torque and really needs revving. Once you're up in the RPM thought it goes well. Its heavier and it feels it and it doesn't feel as tight as the Clio. IMO its not as quick as the Clio although on the move there's not a great deal in it.

If you want a more refined Clio then the 182 FF would be my choice.

I've got a Fabia VRS through work so the main thing I'm after Is fun factor. Having the Rallye makes anything more refined or comfortable :)

Steering feel /feedback and sharp handling are a must so I'll stick With the Clios.

The vvtli suffers from flywheel damage when clutch is shot and together can be pricey, you need to rev them hard to get fun factor a bit like type r.
The t sport wheels buckle easy as well so watch out for that, apart from that there pretty good cars. (Ive had the celica t sport)

I went to one from a 172 cup for a family wagon and pretty much hated it, prob quicker of the mark than a clio, but no fun to drive, put it on tte springs and new kyb dampers but still a boat. Mine was crap on fuel too. Don't do it! Only car I've been glad to get rid of tbh and I bought a 182 to replace it...
