Good man, cheers :p! He says he isnt sure about the belts, the last owner didnt know either apparently but if the mileage is genuine its most likely not been done yet? Yeah theres part service history and if the HPI comes back ok then it surely cant be a bad buy?

Edit: Just read G4Zs comment! Good news if he is on here, thats what i was hoping for!

Not 100% sure on reason for sale as he's only had id for a short time!

Yah it looks like he has only had it for 2 months or so?! Has he mentioned any problems with it? Only 5 months MOT coming with it too...
Going to give him a phone later today i reckon, i sound really suspicious i know but ive been stung when buying cars before unfortunately.

Dont think so mate, he hasnt posted any problems with it on here anyway.

Keep in mind that its an 8 year old car so its not going to be absolutley flawless with regard to condition. So long as its been serviced it should be okay. Nothing major has gone wrong in the time ive had mine, just daft things that are cheap/easy to repair.

For instance the air bag light that comes on, its just a case of snipping the wires and using either a choc block or male/female connectors to re connect them, 10 minute fix

Yeah your probably right Danny cheers, just being over cautious. Spoke to Brembo earlier and he has a genuine reason for selling up so im happy enough with that.

Well, i had a Cup two years ago and wrote it off and i just got to thinking about the lack of ABS etc etc and am basically just worried that ill smash it again if i get one. Admittadly the ph1 is no slouch but i just think it will be a bit safer. Couldnt live with myself if i sent two Cups to the scrapyard :p!

What mileage you getting out of your one? The Cup i had would do about 35mpg average. Had a Megane Coupe F7R after that and it would do about the same.

I only run it on V-Power, i think it Idles smoother and power delivery flows a little smoother aswell.

Went to Newcastle recently with the missus and got 370m from the tank. After working that out it was averaging between 42-45mpg

It really is decent considering that its a 1998cc petrol...!

Spoke to Brembo about the £££ but we didnt really agree on it so im not going ahead with this. All good though :), im sure ill find something else.
Saw another 172 Cup on Pistonheads for £3k, FSH but MOT expires in June, 78'000 on the clock. Could be a gamble with the upcoming MOT but then again if its had a full service at 70'000 then it might be no problem....

3K for a 172 with 78'000 on the clock or 3.5K for 35'000. That's a no brainer, shorely?

You would think so but I know he only paid £2500 for it (according to an earlier post) and it's going to need the timing belt done. I don't think it's worth £3500, I would stretch to £2500 tops personally. Call me what you like ;-).

the prices for ph1's are starting to creep up though as they are becoming desirable cars again..and most ph1 owners know this..

£2000 for a Ph1 with 35,000 miles on it... max, I dont think so somehow

In my opinion its worth more than £2,500 aswell.

I hung about untill I found one which I know is good...which this one is.

Have been on Cliosport now since I was 15 so certainly know what im looking at.

But unfortunetly due to finances I need to sell up

If its very clean bodywise, belts done and its had alot of money spent mechanically to keep it fresh its worth 3.5 - 4K + imo. If not these cars can easily need 2k spent just to make rite, it really depends on the individual car not just the milage.

I have no details of belts being done, however it doesnt need 2 grand spent on it.
