ph1 cat vs.ph2 cat

Is either system better on the 172s, ph1 being twin cylinder and ph2 having the one? I was intrigued by Daves project where Mark Fish made his ph2 cat a larger opening.

Im no expert but Ive always thought the twin type cat would be less restrictive.
