PH1 CUP GEARBOX

  PH1
Hi. New to the forum and a noob within the Renault scene but I thought if I could get some help and info on gearbox specs.

I have a PH1 CUP 172 which possibly needs a gearbox being replaced. I'v done some research and was made aware that the cup gearboxes are different with shorter ratios and coded as JC5- 129 and something mentioned about the speedo drive if I am not mistaken...

Can anyone give me some more input in regards to this info?

I would greatly appreciate it, Thanks

I understand perfectly, thank you. Cups started with the PH2 facelift models. So what gearboxes are compatible with the 172 ph1's? Any thing I should keep an eye out for?

Thanks

the PH2 172 cup (jc5-129) as well as some early PH2 172 will fit a PH1 172. Basically any jc5 box with a speedo drive fitted to the gearbox will fit straight on. The later models use the abs for the speedo, unless your not bothered about the speedo then they'll all fit.

I'd wait until one of the members with more knowledge than me will come and confirm what i've said.

Yes Matt is right if you have a ph2 cup like me (no abs ) then you need a ph2 cup or a ph1 early type gearbox there's a gearbox company that most use on here who have a top reputation you send them your broken gearbox they fix and send it back very fast

Ok. Thanks for that lads. I appreciate the advice. So I'v just gotta quickly check if my PH1 has got a speedo drive intact. or blank plug if ABS.
