ph1 mk2 coil pack location ?

anyone know where this is? its got the four coils into the top of the engine, and the wires dissapear down next to the engine, do they just go straight to the ecu?

straight to the ECU mate, the pencil coils in the top "ARE" your coilpack, they have these bizarre individual packs. r they faulty? common for one to go.

nah just they wont spark, ive left the car standing for a month and never had a problem til this week when i came to start it, battery went flat etc, but thats fixed now, and the coils wont spark, dunno if the immobiliser had came on but nothing seems to work :S

one of the relays controls the ignition, i've had battery power but no spark, no power at any of the coils, swapped the relays over and it worked, they're 12 quid-ish from renault. might b worth a try?

im from houghton le spring just outside of sunderland mate, its a 1.6 16v engine 1999 model

where are the relays located that control the ignition? is it under the glove box and its a big red one furthest up the relay stack? ive had problems with that before but that was a while ago, however it was damp weather!

hang on a min, i think i pu the tittle wrong, it could be ph2 mk1? i get confused by this, anywho its a 1999 model with the same sort of looks are your pic

the relays are under the bonnet, there's a plastic box to your right between the battery and wing, and they're in there with some hefty fuses. on mine there's 3 black and one yellow, but i think it may be different if you don't have a/c. one of the black ones is ignition. one is fan speed, as is the yellow. the other black is fuel pump. i can't remember which is which tho, you can test them by putting current through them and seeing if they click.

cheers thats a real help, i think ive got 2 black ones and a yellow one, below the hefty fuses, they seem to click for the fuel pump but not ignition, i will try see which one is faulty

checked the relays in the front of the bonnet, one was corroded to hell!! swapped it with another black one and it fired up, but what does the other one do that i swaped it for?
