Ph1 Set up

  Vee 6
Hi guy's looking for some input on buying the right gear for this car.

The brief is weekend use and track stuff.

The car was G4Z's old motor, It's just had an engine transplant and is now up and running :approve:

Now before any power upgrade work, I want to get the chassis right.

Coilovers, topmounts, bushes and a quality brake setup.

There's stacks of gear out there, And half of you guy's have probably bought it and tested it.

Not looking to do this on the cheap, But want to spend my money wisely.

What works and what doesn't.

In my opinion...

Coilovers the rated choices, for sets that you don't need to sell your Kidneys for, seem to be AST, KW v2 or VMAXX.

Topmounts; the most sort after and wisest choice if you're getting coilovers are from AST but they are sold out everywhere and have been for ages IIRC. Others available are K-Tec or Compbrake.

With bushes the general advice is to stay with the OE ones, but there are people who run either a mixture of poly bushes (usually the dog bone mount) and OE or fully uprated bushes allround. Or if you're feeling really flush you could throw on the full Cup Racer mount set.

Brakes the most commonly purchased setup is OE rears with Brembo High Carbon discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads up front along with braided lines alround and ATE Super Blue fluid.

The Eibach Sportline springs that are fitted are as good if not better than some of the cheaper coilovers Sean, they come highly recommended on here!

Some Team Dynamic pro race 2 wheels! None of that pish (TSW) you were eyeing up in another thread

If you decide to keep it on sportlines I'm trying to organise a Koni adjustable damper group buy. Combined with the sportlines its a great setup.

If you want to go lower though you'll need the coilovers.

Ideally i like to get my arse in one to try it out for size first. The internet is great for prices but i loads of stuff that wasn't just right when it turned up....

Good find though. Cheers bud.

The plan is it's going to get trashed around knockhill, So coillies would be best ( I think )

It's got a got one stiff topmount and a leaking rear shocky. Even with this it feels quiet chuckable.

(Remember i've never really driven one ) So i quessing an even better feel with some puka gear.
