Ph1172 rev counter not working

  172,MR2 GT-S
Hi Guys,

I have an issue when all my instrument dials work fine but the rev counter sits right round passed the limiter and wobbles about but does do much else.

The car does seem to be idling low also but obviously cant confirm this if the counter doesnt work.

Any ideas what could caude this ?

Cheers

Paul

Does it go back to "0" when you turn it off or does it stay put?

Gut feeling is someone has played with the needle or the pointer is just broken and not fixed to the spindle correctly.

The speedo doesnt return to "0" when switched off, so wouldi be best to remove the clocks and check the attachment at the back?

Strange one.. I had the opposite problem, my speedo wasnt working (mileage wasnt going up) and it was the speedo sensor at the back of the engine!

could be worth taking the clocks apart, taking the needle of and putting it at zero with a dab of glue,

as someone else said, it could be that the needle isnt connectyed to the spindle properly and is just sitting where it falls!
