Ph2 Twin Lambdas

on a 172 Ph2, is the post-cat lambda just to turn on the stupid emission light on the dash or does it actually do something worthwhile?

i believe its there to detect a difference from the first lambda IE to show the cat is working

That's fine then, I'll replace my upstream one, SOD spending 70 odd quid on the downstream one.
