Phase 1 Newb from Bristol here

Hi all,
I picked up my Titanium silver phase 1 with ali bonnet and shift light yesterday and after an eventful round trip of about 500 miles, she's now sat in my driveway

She was already modded, some good mods... some not so good mods.
Italic number plates are going this weekend, standard ones in the boot.
M3 mirrors which are the worst, most useless bits of rubbish I have ever used - not that I could use them as I can only see my front windows reflected in them hehe

Lowered 40mm, stainless exhaust with sport cat (not sure of brand till I have a closer look)
Pipercross induction kit and 17 wheels.
No body mods at all, apart from the large dent a lorry with loose load on the motorway managed to put in the bonnet!
I couldn't do anything to avoid the large clod of earth and stone - saw it coming and just had to pray it didn't hit the windscreen - it didn't.
It hit the bonnet and bounced over the roof leaving me with a dent and missing paint in the middle of the bonnet :(

As with any car this age, although it's been well looked after by previous owners (belts done on time etc as well as new suspension and clutch.) I think it was previously owned by someone who modded it with erm... Youthful exuberance ;)
So got a bit of undoing work to do as well as some small fixing up jobs.

On the point of mirrors, as I have M3 mirrors I might as well have no mirrors at all.
Are the phase 1 mirrors the same as Phase2/ 182 etc?
The phase 2 mirrors seem to be a lot easier to get hold of.

Thanks to all.
Looking forward to getting the Clio all sorted and having some great years with her!

Hi there and welcome mate!
You should get some pics up!
I wouldn't know if they are the same mirrors but I know what you mean by m3 mirrors? They aren't the best are they!!
Have fun with the car mate!! Theres is plenty of advice and bits for sell on this site!!

Dan

Thanks Dan.
The mirrors are vile tbh and they have to go! hehe
I'll have a hunt around on the site and see if there are any for sale.

I'll gt some pics up over the weekend hopefully after a wash and the standard plates are back on.

Here are some pics.
Hasn't been washed but I have replaced the italic chav number plates with standard ones so worthy of some piccies :)

Tints will be going soon, my wife works for a windscreen company so I'll get the windows replaced :)
As already said, Italic plates replaced.
Car is going in on Tuesday to get the niggles sorted out, tracking, Brake pedal reaching the floor before brakes come in and dashboard instrument cluster illumination not working.
Also going to have to look at the dephaser pulley at some point as it appears to be quite noisy (very rattle warm idle but fine at revs or when cold.)

Other than that, eventually smaller wheels and a general tidy up.
All in all though the car is mechanically sound and drives like a beast, especially after driving a 406 110 HDi for four years.
When I got back in the 406 to move I had to keep checking the handbrake wasn't still on hehe ;)

Aha! Yeah looks like a smart car mate!
Hopefully your niggles will get sorted!
What wheels you thinking? Some standards?

Possibly.
Depends on price I guess.
I don't mind after market alloys and making the car look a bit more individual as long as it doesn't mess with how it drives.
I can get new aftermarket wheels with new Exaltos for around £500.
Not sure what standards usually go for tbh.

lol Hi :)
*knows where to be a good boy now* :p
Yup that's where I was getting work done on it today... although in my defence it may have been one of the lads from the garage giving it a test run to check the brakes....

But yeah it might have been me ;)

Bristol uniforms? I get stuck in trafic outside there most mornings! lol.

I'm not usually at the garage as i'm the one normally out and about.

Usually I avoid the main road but couldn't get to BM motoring from the back.
Luckily the high street was empty.

How did the car sound when it went past? ;)

Yup and exhaust.
Nice noise... even if it does sap power a little with heatsoak but where would be the fun in a quiet 172 :approve:

Just to say as well I'm removing the tints this weekend and standard mirrors are arriving tomorrow so I can kill the hateful M3s in a ritual burning!
Unfortuantly the wheels have to stay for a while as the Alloy money now has to be spent on a cambelt/ dephaser replacement.

The car WILL slowly become less chav hehe

Can't promise my driving will improve though! lol
