Phoenix gold amplifiers

Has anyone got any experience with these amps? The model in question, MS-275 is what I have come across, in an alright condition. I might clean it up, give it a lick of paint if it's going to be worth it.

Not sure yet, going to try my 6x9's instead of the 1000 watt sub that came with it as it's massive and I don't have any need or want for something so powerful. Ill also try it in tri linear and see what it produces.

I would run the fronts too but I've got not idea where to star amping components, plus it's still got the standard speakers. I'll have a mess around and figure out what I'll be buying next.

Oh, and has anyone opened one up? 24K gold plated circuit board! Looks immense.

ive not run pheonix gold but im looking at the manual now and it looks to be a good 2 channel amp it does 75w rms @ 4ohm on each channel at 12v so i would say 13.8-14.4v it would jump up to about 100w per channel

i would recommend using this amp for the front speakers look for some nice component speakers it will require you putting a hole through your door shut to run a wire but its well worth it

i personally don't recommend having 6x9's i find them over powering and not really that clean if you enjoy hearing more music coming from behind you rather then coming from the front then they will be fine

Yeah I'll look into the guides for doing the fronts, I only have 6x9's in at the moment as they were in the car when I got it, plus the rear door card speakers have had it.

Another question, are 3 way coaxials any good for the rear door cards or just stick with 2 way?

either one will be find on the back i run no back speakers since i cant hear them anyway lol

Got all the cables routed, I'll hook everything up tomorrow and see what it's like. I put the sub in the boot and it takes up 3/4 of the boot space, so it won't be staying. Things are looking like a decent set of components up front, amped, no sub.

i wouldn't really use that amp for a sub just look for a small sub and a small mono block amp it will take less space if your worried about boot space u can also look on ebay for the stealth boxes that sit in the side of the boot leaving you alot of space or u can just look on ebay like i did and found this lol http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-Clio-False-Floor-Boot-build-fits-mk2-172-DCi-1998-2006-l-K-Bargain-/221221490998?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3381d41136

So I put it all in and it's safe to say, the sub isn't staying, it's insanely loud! The car feels like it's going to fall apart, so I'm very impressed with the amp, the sub taking up pretty mush the whole boot.....not impressed.

Here's a pic off google of the insides.

Phoenix Gold amps are excellent! I used them in a couple of competition systems I built back in the early 90's. The experts recommend that older Pheonix amps need to have the caps changed now as some have apparently caught fire. Google Amp Doctor or look on the Pheonixphorum for info. I believe it costs about £100 but worth it for peace of mind.

if anyone is interested I have a couple of brand new Pheonix items for sale a MQ-430 amp which is slightly bigger than an MS-275 and 4 channel so great for a component front stage or it can be bridged to 2 channel and the other item is a EQ-215X I believe with remote bass adjustment.
