Phone help needed in Beijing !!!!!

I have a Nokia N95 which is unlocked/blocked and in use with an Orange SIM card in the UK.I have arrived in Beijing,fitted a 'local' Sim and l get the message 'SIM CARD INVALID'

HELP !

I know l can't use PAYG with Orange here as they have no roaming agreement with a Chinese network for PAYG customers.BUT...do you think if l buy a new SIM from here it would work? Or are there some settings l need to change on my phone...l have already changed a few but theres no change when l fit a SIM.

Just get a PAYG sim, Im sure there something called a 'Gold sim' PAYG which is what my friend gets when she goes over to China and just gets a new one each time, there only a couple of quid.
