Photo Request - DA light Correction work

  Honda & VW
I am interested to see what sort of levels of correction people have managed to get with a DA, please post some before/after of 50/50 photos.

Clearly for near enough full correction we all know a Rotary is needed but alot of people including myself own a DA.

My Mini Cooper S's paintwork is pretty good, relatively swirl free however each time i clean it the swirling/light scratches on the pillars really bugged me, also the fact they appeared so so dull (more grey than black). My intention was to remove as much of the defects as possibly and restore the black and add some gloss.

Sorry about the photos, they don't show the problem and the result brilliantly due to the fact the sky was grey and i have no light gun (did remember my trusty ClioSport Touch however but didn't help alot, but you get the idea just about.

(Before anyone points it out, due to iminant rain i decided i would not have time to give the car a good clean but instead simply washed down the pillars, clayed them, washed them, dryed them, polished them, Lime prime applied then finished with some Harleys Wax). Due to being such small areas it didn't take too long.

Deff. not true!!! For full correction of a deeper scratch i'd might say yes (but 5 hits with you D/A, especially a 900 watt, can fix it too). But for full correction of a swirled car? Nahw..

Not the best pic, but the treated side of this Volvo S40 was deff. swirl free:

Thanks for that Martjin, interesting to see. What did you use on to achieve the above correction on that Volvo?

On the Volvo I believe that I have used a DAP 500, which is almost similar to a DAS-6 500 watt machine. I used an orange Lake Country CCS pad and Monello Inizio as polish. Monello is our own re-branded Menzerna product, and Inizio is almost similar to their newest heavy polish.

The above was corrected with two hits of Menz IP3.02 and then refined with 85.

There is no need for a Rotary. I survived for four years without a rotary, taking on VAG, BMW and Porsche paint.

Fine the DA may get to a similar level of correction. But who in there right mind wants to hit a panel 4-5times when a rotary can do it in 1! Silly.

Thanks guys thats great to see.
Gally, JD can you recall what pads, polish(s) you used and also how many hits were required to achieve those results?

Yellow: JD mentioned "above was corrected with two hits of Menz IP3.02 and then refined with 85"
The 85 will be Meguiars 85 Diamond Cut i believe.I would recommend you the Lake Country pads in: Orange, White, Black or Light Green. As for the Rotary part: I did a Renault Laguna 2.0 16s from 1999 yesterday. With the Rotary i could use a light green pad and Monello Finale (finishing polish) to obtain a swirl-free result. With the 900 watt D/A it took me an Orange pad + heavy compound to remove the same swirls on the same bonnet. I indeed choose the Rotary path:

-Light green + finale (light polish) on rotary
-Black pad + clearkote vanilla glaze (very light polish) on D/A.

Brought a very nice finish. The D/A way would have been:

-Orange pad + Inizio (heavy compound)
-White pad + Mezzo (medium polish)
-Light green pad + finale (light polish)

Must say the result wasn't very different from the Rotary... so just one extra step is acceptable if you don't detail several cars a month/week.
