Not sure if this has been mentioned before but what websites have you looked at that have made you think WOW?

Somewhere in there it explains how he does it. I think its a dark room, longish exposure and then fires a flash to capture the image.

Yes he did, the way Chris did it was with a really fast shutter speed. This bloke seems to use a different technique.
