Photoshop question

Noticed that on the clio calender thread that people have made the background blank and white and colour for the car. How is this done?

Im new to photoshop and just learning the basics but am impatient wanting to make my own similar photo.

Anyone help?

Ctrl + Shift + U. Desaturate.

Duplicate the layer, then on the top layer, select the car and delete it. Then Ctrl + Shift + U. The top layer will be colourless and the car will show through from the layer below and still be in colour.

Thats the easiest way.
