Can you lucky owners please post up a pic of your Renault Sat/Nav unit ??

- it's the one that replaces the std Head-up display in the Clios..

I'm interested in getting one and linking to a good h/u :approve:

Mike @ rentech fitted it to his 172, there are a few pics knocking about on here.

I don't know the prices, mines factory fitted not retro fitted.

The part numbers prices are on this forum already as it has been discussed before and others have had them fitted.

Feck that! If its only Sat Nav your after buy a Road Angel or a TomTom

prices are

whole dash - £180ish
tv holder - £17.95 or something
screen - £140

so its about £200 for both bits and thats all you need from renault - prob get a bit off with a bit of haggling!

Mike will have the part numbers - i cant remember but i do have the box it came in so it mite have the number on it!

you do not need to buy the sat nav package from renault you can just buy a normal 5.8" screen be it alpine, pioneer or a not well known brand

i went for necvox - crackin wee screen

only tricky thing is that you need to remove the outer plastic which holds the screen together to fit the renault holder for the dash.

now how do u control the screen? 2 things

1. extend the buttons from the tv screen onto a separate, new PCB and mount the buttons infront of the screen like in Liam's first pic. (i wanted to do this but was going to be expensive)

2. extend the infrared light to the same place infront of the screen and just use the remote to operate!

take your gear to a specialist ICE shop like I did - I did not trust myself with ripping apart a brand new sreen!

Once the screen was fitted perfectly I got a necvox tv tuner and slim ps2 and connected them both up to the HU - now, using both AV's in the screen i can play/watch dvd's or watch tv!

Ill give anyone advice and the fast way to get this up and running - it is expensive but its factory and professional looking which I think you would all agree!

I'd be interested in doing what Boydie has done with his, it's more the dash bit and a screen that I'm after - to give the dash a bit of "life"

If I got a PS2 fitted as a dvd source, will the screen show up the display from the h/u too?

trev the hu is only used to swap over the sources.

because i have the tv tuner in aswell i had 2 auxilarys. you only have to press source once to get the ps2 up on screen then you use the ps2 to control the rest (but you do need a good ps2 invertor)

Yeh im interested in this too. Providing i can get info on fitting the dash itself then i would be confident giving it a bash.... Is there a way of using the standard head unit and still being able to use sound even though the screen is playing from another source.... im intending on using a slim PS2 mounted in the glove box. but would want the sound to play through my standard head unit into my speakers?

i used a NECVOX FD-5869 5.8" screen for my dash - look it up - its about £140

id get a professional ICE workshop to do the work

airbags would be grand!

as for the standard HU im sure you can but it would be easier to get an aftermarket HU

the slim ps2 fits PERFECTLY into the glove box - im using a wireless controller which means i can play it with the glove box closed - only thing is that it doesnt fit with the wireless reciever lol oh well

£154.99 + del. is best I could find so far for the screen

Going to call at audio advice 2moro maybe and see what they can come up with (price an Alpine 9853 h/u and my 2nd amp)

Will that screen display the info from the h/u ?

no it wont display stuff from the hu and it doesnt need to - all it needs to do is display the picture from the ps2

go to SIM in campsie and get the necvox screen for £140ish

no point getting an alpine screen whenever the necvox has the same pixels and quality - plus to fit the screen to the dash the plastic cover over the screen has to be removed - id take it to SIM personally cos they did mine and will know what to do

i got my ps2 invertor from Richies in ballymena - quite expensive but i wanted something small and good quality - CDO or something is the make.

Anyway here are pics of my dash with the infra red LED and necvox screen - tv tuner is on!

hardest thing is buying it mate - hand the gear over to a specialist and let them sort it

also - it is not sat nav - it was originally designed by renault to house a screen for sat nav but this is different lol

i thought about making a custom pod on the back of the plate behind the wingmirror fora clock but cant be bothered

is there no way of connecting the normal car display up to it, surely there is if the renault units display all the info?

The Origional setup used the Radio and Sat Navto display onto the screen via the sat nav etc....

So without all that gear you wont be able to just "hook it up"

you could display it by re-locating the original lcd screen - you would have to get it moulded somewhere and the cable extended

Tigger, it shudnt be too expensive,

U cud extend the cables urself carefully. Infact u cud make a fiberglass mould urself etc... all depends on the lengths you want to go to to get it looking good.

You could also pay a company to make a suitable mould etc... to acheive a factory finish look.

It may take some time for me to afford some of these ideas but it will be worth the look if I can do what I have in mind
