new to the site, was wondering if anyone has tried this before. tinting the rear light and leaving the clear circle part clear

I wouldn't do it, the standard lights suit the car well.

I saw a set like that on ebay a while ago, looked horrible imo.

Standards are the best suited lights tbh, or FK make a very nice euro set.

just bought a phase 2 172 in silver, think standard look good just wondered if anyone had tried doing this. ones on ebay do look s**t they have lines going over the clear bit. will buy another set of lights from scrapyard and try it out sometime this week
