heard a few negative comments about kent cams, not heard anything bed abouy piper, had piper cams in my valver for 4 years, no problems!

  Audi TT 225 Quattro
got piper cams and pullies in mine, got them fitted at hillpower when the engine went in so don't know a fitting price, can't see it costing more than £300 as not to much has to come off. had them for a year and not 1 problem with them.

I'm not convinced on cams anymore seems to be a bit hit & miss with the results.....

heh well the nana & 2lives were the original cammed beasts that had me convinced but mine and your hybrids were the stnd cammed beasts that were just as quick...a lot of money to spend save your money and go straight to t/b's bill!

What cams where in the nana & 2lives mate?

I've alraedy got the cams and pulleys, so i'll get em fitted and a remap, ( once i've got some spare cash, probably after xmas ) and i'll have some comparison tests before and after, if not up the 1/4 mile then, car for car.

nice one tucks, get em fitted sooner than i thought then, mind you bet a chips wizard remap ain't cheap!

2 live had probs with a Kent cam locater lobe snapping and wedging itself into the head...

Piper are good on the whole. Nothing special at all in terms of lift values etc, but they dont break like Kents do as far as I know.

Martin, yours and Winstons weren't as quick as the Nana or 2 lives to be fair, they had nothing inside them and weighed over 100kg's less.

Cams deffo work, but I'd say it depends on what cams you go for and who you get to time and map them that counts. 2 lives was a 14.6 car pre cams, then 14.4 with untimed cams. Once mapped it was 14.0 all day long with back seats and spare out. To this day nothing in similar spec has come close. On the road the difference really shows as the speeds rise and you start throwing hills into the equation.

Kents are ther way forward, do agree with Jesus thou, stripping the car is more effective, but the way I see it, I have cams and a remap, goes like stink and I still have my comforts in the car.

Horses for courses

I paid 150 for mine fitted with new bottom pulleys too

I need to get mine 1/4 miled again now its had the map tweaked and my new exhaust fitted

Yup, as Rob says, there's the advantage of it still being a car and not having to strip anything good out of it to save weight. I leave empty drink bottles in mine, but it doesn't bother me, as once they get too many I just go to BenR and ask for more power :D

Cams on mine deffo made a huge difference overall, even untimed and on standard map. Its new owner will have all that done soon enough, then it will be one of the quickest Mk1's I reckon.

had pipers on mine, reverted back to standard and noticed hardly any diffrence, however they are definately steeper, i have pics of them lined up with standard

did you get a proper remap from someone though when you had them done, as everyone that's had cams and been to chip wizards has made around 185+ bhp with the other usual breathing mods. On the road it makes more difference than down the 1/4 too.

cams on a MK1 2ltr are probably the best single mod, always surprises me.

Cant imagine martins with some good cams in......would be a bit spastic.
