pipercross viper..how loud

ok ive decided i want to do odd bits to the cup, does anyone have a piperX viper induction kit and is there any noise difference..i want to hear some induction roar..

TBH not very, i heard one on a mates VTS....ok not quite a 172 but they do give a decent enough gain.

I went for an open filter because its the loudest youll get (and I certainly wouldnt buy and IK for power lol). Compared to my old 16V and Williams in particular, the open IK on my 172 is quiet. I think some is to do with the engine and some with the increased soundproofing.

As ben said for noise k n n or green cotton all the way!!!

No kits gonna give power really however people do say keep the standard airbox if you want to keep what power you have........imo it cant be much of a loss and its worth doing as that sound rocks going up through the revs!!!

The Viper I had on my 172 sounded rubbish. Made no noise up to about 4k and then just made a really crap sound up to the redline.

Viper on my williams was somewhere between a open filter and th estnd airbox...sounded different but good!

I had a viper on my cup when i bought it an it wasnt loud at all. I had to take it off as elephant wouldnt iinsure me with it on. I now have an ITG panel filter and thats louder than the viper. In comparison to open induction kits the viper is way quieter. Good bit of kit tho. Mines goin back on when i change insurance companies in february.

my open ended kit dont seem to have lost me any power in the slightest not even today when we hit 32c the car was still pulling like hell.

Sound is awesome. still amazes me how good it sounds.
