Plastigage

Any of you guys got any experience with plastigage? An what are you opinions? Keep hearing of friends using it for checking bearing clearances as was wondering if its any good.

its cheap, one 3 inch strip is enough to do a whole engine, so an envelope should do 10+ engines. You hardly need to use any, 5mm pieces at a time.

An I take it you place this between bearing cap an shell an then torque down?

Yep, put it in the top cap, torque it down an the remove and compare spread to gauge clearance.
