Please help me guys!

whilst down in London at the stockley cruise last sunday, i came round the roundabout in first, changed into second and there was nothing. After rolling into the bus lane i realised i had no gears at all. Anyway after getting my car back home in Northamptonshire i got it towed to midland auto transmission in Kettering, and they tell me they havent got a clue what the problem is, even though they fitted a new gearbox and clutch to the car 7 months ago, and are refusing to repair it under warranty because the previous owner had had the work done. Anyway im wondering if any of you guys have had any similar problems or can tell me what the problem is? Cheers lads.

P.S the speedo still goes up when going through the gears, if thats any help.

ive had a look mate but everything seems to be in tact and not even the transmission specialists can work it out. could something inside the driveshafts have snapped or come loose do you reckon?

is there any noise when in gear and increasing rpm?

If there is, does the noise get faster or speed up as you accelerate through teh gears. (i appreciate you aint actually moving lol)

any noise when you shifted into second?

sounds like drive is still getting to the output shaft, and possibly the diff.

alright mate, even though im going nowhere the engine ticks over fine, theres no abnormal sounds from the engine, and it didnt make any strange noises when i changed into second. The car is at the transmission garage at the moment and they are checking over the driveshafts, but not even they are exactly sure.

Very odd mate, if its still engaging gears it could be either that drive it not getting transmitted to the gear box, either via the clutch or a broken input shaft.. or it could be that your differential has broken and not giving drive to the driveshafts!

If its a internal gearbox problem id play hell with whoever replaced the gearbox
