Speedo is driven off the ABS speed pulse not the gearbox, has it got an abs warning light on at all? Otherwise will be a wiring fault from the abs pump/computer to the dials I imagine.

Wiring fault then, find it to fix it that simple. Will be fun no doubt will have a look in the diagrams see which pin it is and where it goes.

Pin 15 on the back of the clocks Orange wire then through the dash/engine loom connector behind the washer bottle where its Pin C8 then onto the ABS pump/computer Pin 17 still orange wire.

I'd guess theres a fault on that somewhere, where is anyones guess. You got a multimeter? You'll need one most probably.

Could be a few things technically.

A fault with the ABS rings, though unlightly unless you are experiencing either warning lights or feedback through the brake pedal at low speed.

A problem with the ABS sensors which takes the reading from the rings.

A problem with the wiring, or something loose (have a check through the fuses for anything blown, though I dont know if that'll be a cause) .

Or the actual dials themselves have an intermittant fault, try doing the test where you tun on the ign (but dont start the car) while holding the trip button down for a few seconds the dials will do their sweep test. Check on here for the built in diagnostic test and see what codes it throws up.

Other than that, the best bet is to take it to renault and have them plug it in to see if there are any faults and their tech have a proper inspection. Proper pain in the bum these intermittant faults so I hope it turns out to be something simple.

Don't think they're mega expensive but the ABS warning light should be on if the sensors don't all talley up revolution wise so I doubt its that. Clocks or wiring fault is where my money is.

he's probably right, have you had a new alarm / sterio fitted where the wiring might have been damaged or fried.

The best thing you could do is take it to the stealers, it's about £70 for the diagnostic test I think.

Did you try the dash test. Next time the speedo stop's working find somewhere to pull over and do the dash test, if the connection is not working but the diaognostic shows they are then it's probably a fault unrelated to the speedo unit and more than lightly the wiring or a connection to the unit.

Press and hold the trip computer button and turn the ignition on, the dials will self test. If the speedo moves when it won't work normally its fine.

FOUND FAULT CLOCKS ARE WORKING ON THE CHECK

J means a fault has been noted on the fuel gauge. It must have disconnected for longer than 100 seconds. The resistance from the fuel tank sensor needs to be between 5 and 350 Ohms.

What does this meen and would this stop the spedo from working
