How does 3 points affect your insurance???

Got 3 points last week, havnt told insurance yet, (im not driving the car at ther mo, its still in bodyshop.)

Just wondered how much more i should expect to pay!

It depends on the offence code.

SP30 doesnt effect many insurance companies because its so common. whereas a drink drive offence or no insurance is the worst to have.

yeh, i think it depends on what you got the three points for. Such as whether it was for a minor speeding offence or going through a red light which they take more seriously i think.

I got SP50 last year speeding on motorway 80mph... didnt effect my insurance at all. direct line.

I have both an SP30 and SP60, totalling 9 points! My insurance is dirt cheap, im 25, 2 years NCB, they only want £2300 for my 172! LMFAO!

Next week, lets sell my car.

I messed around on tesco insurance once working out how much 3 points for getting caught by a red light camera would cost me. It would have put my insurance up from what was then £400 to £450 so not really that much but obviously as a percentage if you are paying £800 thats gonna put it up to £900.

So what was the SP30 for and what was the SP60 for? I have never understood the difference between those two?

Its BS really the insurance charging you that much as they know everyone with that type of car drives the same way but you were just unlucky enough to get caught. If anything you will drive more safely now than someone with a clean licence.

Its funny though cos I remember doing my CBT in 1993 and one of the students had points on his licence and the instructors were like "wow what was that for mate" cos it was quite unusual to have points then as the only way to get done would be by actually getting caught by a copper in the flesh. Nowadays these things are dished out like sweets so its a common everyday occurance.

SP30: 41 in a 30 i think it was = 3 points

SP60: 101mph on empty motorway = 6 points and £450 fine!

Both in the clio too, quite surprising really!

Unlucky really as I bet everyone here has done well over 120 at some time. Personally I wouldnt do that unless the road was 100% empty like dual carraigeways at 1am on a Friday or Saturday night when all the police are in town sorting out the pissheads.

I got caught by a random copper sitting on a hillside with a gun I think, i just got a letter through the post a few weeks later! Was gutted though, no c**t on the road for as far as you could see, no junctions, hot and sunny and 9am on a sunday! Boooo!

I got pulled the other week for doing 41 in a 30mph zone (was not pedestrianised at all) in my 182 by an hidden cop car. When he came to the window he asked me all the usual questions and then i remembered reading somewhere that you should never admit to your guilt. So i didnt. When he tried to show me my speed, the computer broke and i got away with it. I couldnt help but grin.... lol.

3 points usually doesnt effect your premium.its when u get 6 or more it cripples u!!! ive got an sp30 and cu30. 45 in a 30 and bald tyre.both nearly 4yrs old now.had stupid insurance quotes for the last 4 years!

My insurer (& my wifes) werent bothered by my SP60
