Polishing in bits.

  Shed.
Well being a college student and holding down an almost full time job i have little time to spend polishing a full car in 1 go. 10 hours worth of polishing in bits has done me - full bonnet twice, 1 front quater twice, driver door, and 83 on the rear quater waiting for 80.

I was wondering .... how should i wash it when it comes to the next polishing session. i dont want to scratch it anymore. im jumping straight to a cutting pad with 83 and then onto 80 on a polishing pad, paintwork will then be polshed with srp on a finishing pad, and sealed with jeffs twice, and finally coated with a wax, which at the moment is looking like purple haze but i may slip up and get some sapphire or whatever the £70 one was.

Had a play on the bonnet tonight again, was polished with 80 yet again, polished with srp, 3 coats of jeffs triggger sealant (i love this stuff and i now see how it works) and a coat of supernatural which was applied by machine. I see why rich always goes on about initial preperation lol.

once fully polished you will hopefully never have to use the 83 again, as 80 is more than sufficient for removing almost all the swirling from soft (renault) paintwork.

Nice work - Keeping the finish swirl free after is the nightmare - take your time over washing and maybe look into a water filter so you don't have to dry.

ill be buying new towels for a kick off due to my der wunders being like straw now, but i expect to be polishing it by machine using 80 quite a lot, every few months or so.

i should have listened to you rich and bought one sooner.

Every few months?! If your washing technique is up to scratch a polish one a year should only be needed. Try to focus on prevention rather that the cure.

^ What he said...I find a good bit of SRP via PC every 3-4 months then topped with sealant and/or wax is more than enough. If you go for a full polish every time you notice a mark you will eventually eat through your clearcoat, I have only done mine "properly" twice.

Indeed, hoping not to have to use IP on mine again once done. Final Finish of a finishing pad hopefully with be enough in future :)
