This to me at the moment feels like a very stupid question, but my grandad seems to brainwash me with his old school technical side of things.
He has a 1.2 clio and I bought him some new filters all round oil/air/pollen etc.
He said the car was running bad lately and missfiring, so we changed the plugs, he said better but not quite, then I changed the pollen filter just out of routine previously thinking (and i think knowing) that the pollen filter is just for the interior air system, and nothing to do with the running of the engine?
The car didnt even have a pollen filter installed so I wacked it in, and today hes told me the car runs a dream, and trying to tell me he thinks it could be a sensor in the air system that now with the restriction of the pollen filter has made the engine run right again lol. (Next job was another new coilpack but he seems to think its ok now, I think obviously it was the new plugs)
I think hes just a bit out of cars now (and the placebo effect has made him put his foot down) but I am interested to know is there anything in the air system that effects engine idling? I doubt it but hes brainwashed me now :clown:
