Poor Handling When Turning

  Titanium Clio 182

I feel as though i dont have full control over the car and it feels like the front end is sliding when im turning round corners on bumpy roads that need resurficing. Its fine on smooth roads. My tires are 33psi all round.

Im only doing about 10 mph when i notice this. My old clio (1.2) was fine when going around bumpy corners. Is it just because i have stiff suspension.

Got any shoulders left on the tyres?

Could just be scrabling for grip, broken roads tend to have loose materials causing loss of grip

so are my tyres inflated too high or is it just the stiff suspension shuddering when it goes over bumps?

try riding over unsurfaced roads on a bike mate, you arent going to have decent grip on unsurfaced, broken or bumpy roads, be it stiff suspension or not

i was on a bumpy broken road and had no grip. unfortunately by the time i found this out my rear end was in a hedge!! got it back though..... just.

Especially when theyve resurfaced the road with gravel/stones. Loads of fun then

How worn are your front tyre, they make a huge difference to the way the clios handle, good tyres are great but when they have worn the handling goes a bit sh*t to say the least.

Well its in for a service today, i think he said £290 but my brother was there and he said it was £190 for the 12k service. Hopefully they will have found a problem with it.

My car used to feel uneasy/sloppy on corners

needless to say it doesnt anymore now i have coilovers! :D

i wouldnt worry about it unless its excessive

must admit my 1.6 dynamique felt fine but I have the same prob (or feeling) when I corner at speed (such as long sweeping motorway curves), at 70mph of course ;)

Just put it down to the stiffer suspension etc as the thing goes round corners at superb speeds and stays well down.

I think its just a different feeling rather than a problem in my case as wheels are all below 30.

had the same prob the other day in the cup and this was a "broken" road i was doing 40-50 round a medium corner and the front slide out abit! but i just eased off the gas then on the straight full on! was fun but has put me off dodgy corners now:sick:

Well it seems better after the service. They must have done something to it. Ill check the tyres soon.

Ive nearly lost it twice now, not accelerating nor going very fast, i hit a ruff part of the road with bits of tarmac missing, (only gaps of about 2 - 4 cms missnig) and it feels as though the back end slides out. This was on a dry surface also. I still dont know if its just because of the hard suspension or if its something else.

182 suspension isnt hard, FAR from it!!!!

tyre pressures chap, general rule of thumb with all clios is 3 -4 psi less in the rears then in the front
