PoorBoys?

OK! So I am most definately not a detailer, I just wash my car with a bucket and sponge every 2 weeks, that about it.

But some absolute c*nt has keyed my car in multiple places.

I had a mate look at it and said he reckons it'll polish out, and recommended the PoorBoys brand.

Only thing is I have no idea about them and was wondering what PoorBoys polish/product would you recommend to try and get the scratch out?

I will only be doing it by hand as I don't have a DA or machine polisher etc.

Heres some pics of the scratch... (excuse the dirty car)

So he started here:

Went all the way down the side strip, and ended here:

There is also another one above it on the wing, although it is more faint and will easily come out.

Please excuse me for being a noob!

Sponge could of done that

Black hole is a glaze so I presume it would only hide it a little.

Tried SRP? That ' might ' take some of it out

Can you feel the scratch with your finger nail?
If you can then no amount of polish will remove it but if you can't then chances are you will be able to improve it and maybe even remove it.

I can slightly feel it, but its not overly deep, I also have a touch up pen from reno if that will help anything?

Well you may as well have a go at polishing it because it won't do it any harm just don't expect too much.
A touch up pen may help but I haven't got any experience with touching up such a big scratch so I couldn't really say.
There might be some videos on youtube that may be helpful.

I'm also gutted for you, really hope you get it sorted.

Yeah black hole will sort that out mate. I had worse on my audi that i got out.

Wash it using the two bucket method too. And get rid of your sponge. Use a mitt. Alot safer.

The lambswool one in halfords is pretty good. Might be worth having a look online tho if your gonna get a few bits like polish and that.
Also if you do use black hole make sure you wax after or it will just wash away.
Two bucket method, mitt and a drying towel is all you really need to wash you car safely.

Black hole will fill swirls and scratches nicely just don't expect miracles on the deeper ones.

Your car will look great after blackhole and a wax.

Yeah looks pretty good, although I'd use an applicator pad instead of the polishing cloth, either foam or microfiber will do the job. I usually use microfiber for glaze and foam for wax but it doesn't really matter.

Have you got any wax? Have a look at the dodo samples on i4d as these will last a long time and save you buying a big tub of wax.

Edit: just realised you get wax in the kit so that will be fine.

get on ebay and buy the black hole and nattys paste wax package. about £25. and thats that bit sorted. comes with applicators and buffers too.

then get one of these to dry the car. ive used many, found this to be the best, and one of the cheapest.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dodo-Juic...ssories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item3f1974d1c2

one of these to wash the car with

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meguiars-...ssories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item1c2f001c43

basics sorted apart from two buckets and grit guards

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meguiars-...ssories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item416f0aaba9

shampoo i use is this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meguiars-...28?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4abc35c740

once youve brought it all, thats it. it will all last you a year plus more except the shampoo.

but if all you want to do is remove that scratch, just buy some black hole, an applicator pad and a buffing cloth.

All the above what Feats suggested is good stuff it just depends how far you want to go with it. It can be tricky advising products to someone who is new to detailing because it gets quite expensive. If all you want to do is remove the scratch look at the britemax samples on i4d as there really good products and cheap.

You could also get yourself some poorboys super swirl remover.

It comes in grades one to there's, three being the harshest.

That'll have more cut than the BH, and work well with what you've just bought.

Blackhole is a glaze and will just fill the scratch. As mentioned you need a heay compound, the britemaz samples someone suggested will do the trick and will be less the £2. Then if it doesn't remove the scratch then blackhole will do wonders hiding it.

That's a polishing glaze, try Britmax resto max. It's a medium compound

Edit: Scrooge found the one I was tying to find

Yes.

Doesn't look like keying to me anyway - it's the wrong place. More like someone with a low hanging bag or maybe even some twigs sticking out of a hedge as you've driven past...

Keying, with little effort will take paint down to the primer/metal.

Danesder - As a little bit of advice, pay Mr TEG a little bit of booze money and ask for a once over on the car, make it all shiny shiny if hes up for it?

Meguiars is good but most of their products you'll pay for the name, not the product.

Seeing you have got a wonderful colour, it maybe worth considering getting a nano sealant applied some time in the near future by a pro or semi pro detailer.

This was sillywoman's PoS Polo from a while back. Proper ghetto polishing... (it was being sold on ebay).

Pretty sure I washed it (badly) then just smashed a worn out pad over it...

depends how long and if we can do it in the morning :/ I got work at 1:30pm on saturday, and 12:30 on sunday

Knocking the scratches out shouldn't take long but then you'll have a clean swirl free patch... Wash + clay will be an hour .. polish will be 1-4 hours depending how bad it is .. clean up and seal will be an hour.

Do you work every weekend ?

If you want it done properly, it'll need a day, or an evening at The Unit with Ant too ?

Looks like Dan may need a week or three to save up for your two's beer tokens... Anyhow, would be daft to just pass on it. Had this offer come up with me 4 months ago before cquartz'ing my car, I would have took it and i live in bloody Nottingham......

Yea I work every weekend :/ im free next wednesday during the day if that helps? but I have work at 5pm so would need to be back

How many beer tokens will I owe you lol (I'm not 18 yet :p)
