Possible rear o2 sensor fault

Hi guys,
driving home this eve and the eml came on, didnt feel any different.
Had the aa round to read the codes and its come up exhaust catalytic converter malfunction (code 6126?)

He tested both o2 sensors and said the rear one isnt giving any readings.
Are tge sensors the same?

The sensors are the same yes but if it's not giving any reading then this is an issue, most likely wiring related. If however it was giving a constant voltage then this is right... Well, depending on the mV output.

ive got a spare sensor so will try that on there

Light has come on again after being off for a week...did look at the readings for the rear o2 sensor and there is 0v for it so like you said i'm guessing it's a wiring problem...hopefully swapping over the spare sensor will sort it. Any ideas where the other end of the cable is within the engine bay?

Goes direct to the ecu. Try a new sensor first.

Will swap it over this weekend. Just plugged it into code reader and it came up with P0420.

My front one has been causing trouble for the past few weeks, need to get it sorted as the EML has just came on again

The sensors are actually different as in one has a long cable than the other. The overall function is the same so they are interchangeable

I had a quick look under the engine today, is the "front" o2 sensor the one just before the flange on the manifold? There's a sensor there and then one in the cat, I presume that's the "rear" one?
