Potential Purchase???

Looking at a 172 tomorrow (after a dodgy 182 a while back), what do you think to this?

• the guy wants to replace it with a wrx - reckon the 172 will be cained?
• what do you reckon to the price?
• what do you reckon to the mileage? any concerns / costs around this mileage?

If it has a Full Renault Service History then it should be fine..but i just wonder why he has done the 36k service, when its only 31k miles? I know some people service there car, more than Renault recommend, but i'd be a tad wary of this.

2 new tyres - These car will chew through tyres every 12-15k miles depending on how you drive..

The 172 / 182's love to be 'cained' so my guess is that it will have had some grief, but these engine love it. They are fairly reliable too so i wouldn't worry about that. The best thing you can do is test drive it.

Have you HPI'd checked it?

maybe a touch too pricey, i agree should be under 7k.....
ppl buy these cars to have a bit of fun in now and again so he prob has put his foot down a few times. i dont rag mine around all the time though, and i certainly would like a WRX next, so i dont think that should put you off necessarily

Expensive?

Compared to other cars on autotrader didnt think it looked bad value! Think im going to swerve it, need to sell my car first anyway, and still unsure of what colour to get the clio in either.

the titanium 182, that is underpriced so is probably listed.

the 172 isnt too overpriced really, but you could knock them down As you said, no need to rush, theres plenty about and the prices will come down soon enough when the new Renaultsport Clio is released

WTF,
1. sell your car first or get money in place.

2. go see the car in the flesh..........do the checks etc........

3. decide, good buy it, bad walk away.

That simple, don't sit dreaming looking on autotrader, at least 25% will have some kind of dodgey history. It's where people GET rid of cars.........

Best place to buy from is local paper, 1 owner FSH genuine cars.......

Remember to you it's your dream car to some people it's just a car.
