power cap wiring

just bought a power cap,yes i know wot some of u say about the, but im a little unsure of how to wire it in.instructions say,+ from battery to amp which it is aleady, and then from +on amp to the + on cap and the small on/acc terminal.the it im not sure of is the -.says - from battery to - on power cap to - on the amp.i presume the - is earth?does it hav to go from the power cap - to the battery or can it go to the erathing point that have used for the amps?

ok cheers guys.the small terminal for the on/acc.can that b just a tiny thin wire as presume its only used for on and off (like remote wire to amp)?

if there is a display on the cap it is for that.

just connect it to your remote if you want to

if the connection is maked on/acc then you will just need a piece of thin wire from the amp remote, so it switches on the display at the same time as the amp.

but you dont have to connect it up its just for show

dont fit it buy a better altenator

ok that is one idea but im pretty sure he already has one:p ;)

i myself would sell it on e-bay/in local paper and just uprate the big three

what a better one ?? well buy an even better one after all it the cause of your problems

the alternator powers the entire electrical system when the car is running the only time it uses battery is when the alternator cant provide enough juice and when its getting close to its limits the power signal becomes a bit dirty so buy a bigger one and your problems re solved

what are they 90a alternators? what with loses that is around 1kW. so he would have to have a very big system to actually kill the batt(i havent yet im running a 1kW amp at 1.1kWish).

yes when you get to the limit of the alt you can get arcing at the brushes inside which cause radio interfience(sp) but most of this high freq stuff is adsorbed by the batt

yes you can with a bigger alternator

as standard my lights on the fabia dim when turning the wheel at low speed it manages to pull around 85 amps iirc

so thats leves fook all for the rest of the car

you use a cap usually to stop the lights dimming as it is used like a buffer it stores a charge that the sub then hammers away at and the altenator then charges back up this stops a huge drane on the alternator but caps can affect the sound quality

so it would be wiser to use a better alternator at square one imho anyway

you can lower volt drop but cant stop it.

i know caps dont work i also know that increasing the csa of the big three is all you need to do on a small/medium install.

Ive bought a power cap for my new system, on my old system it did sound better the bass was deeper and on longer bass notes sometimes it would fuk up but with the cap it didnt.
