Power difference between similar cars

Couple of things related to power/speed of my Williams really.. For info, my car is 99.9% standard - just running a green filter element.

Ive read a few posts about top speed runs in the past, and much of the time I see a similar comment - "car pulled all the way to !25/!30".
My car definately doesnt pull as strongly all the way to those speeds as it does lower down.
Up to around !10 its as strong as it was from 30 - 70, but after that (when I rarely take it there) its a slow, gradual climb.

Why is it that other people see a much more vigourous climb all the way up?

Secondly - Ive driven quite a few Willys now, when buying mine, and since then, and one thing Ive noticed with quite a few is that mine "feels" noticeably quicker, feels like its pulling harder. Is it possible that there was that much difference from factory? Or is it indicative of problems with the "underpowered" cars? Or is it just a feel thing, due to different spread of power/torque thru the range? (I dont have a clue how consistant the "linear spread" Ive read about is, from engine to engine)

There can be quite a big difference between two supossedly standard & identical cars...

Its just the way tolerances stack up and hence why some cars are quicker than others. If youre unlucky you get a duffer, most people get an average one, then others are lucky and get a good one.

So far I seem to have had a lucky streak! :D

What constitutes a "good" one though?

Should I be worried mine doesnt pull so well after !10, or should I be content that it seems very strong below this point?

differences can be caused how they were run in from new,how they have been driven, how well they were looked after(services etc)and the amount of engine wear.also the injection computer learns and adjusts to your driving style.

Well, one with more power and/or torque than normal is obviously better...

Little update not that it interests anyone.. found myself on a totally clear run tonight so had a little play.. car actually pulls pretty hard put to !25ish! (which is where I got to before I backed off, the house brick-like aerodynamics started to make me nervous !! )
