Power Line adapters

I have two devolo powerline adapters which I know will work for the job I wanted to do which is:

Modem/Router -- Devolo adapter -- powerlines to outbuilding -- Devolo adapter -- Wireless access point

But I was wandering if this would work:

RJ11 to RJ45 cable -- Devolo adapter -- powerlines to outbuilding -- Devolo adapter -- RJ45 to RJ11 cable -- Modem/Router

Has anyone ever tried putting a adsl signal into the powerlines before it has touched the modem/router?
