Power steering, lose it or attempt to keep it!

Right gathering bits together for my engine conversion, the only thing is the twingo uses electronic power steering controlled by the ECU, i'll be running aftermarket management and thus renders this void, i can switch to a manual 1.2 base spec clio steering setup and lose my power steering or i can use a hybrid of clio bits and bits from my engine manufacturer to attempt to get it working, the thing is the car will be partially stripped, its pretty light as it is, should i go to the extra effort and difficulty of retaining this luxury or should i just bin it

I wouldn't bother, it will probably make it better to drive giving more feedback - prob be a bit heavy when parking but so what!

I lost my power steering when fitting aftermarket wheel. The 'technican' cut the leads to it. I drove 30k or so without it, it's fine when driving normal speeds, however slower speeds like carparks can be a bit of work.

Lose it.

I had an Escort RST on Escort Cossie wheels (8J wide) with a 330mm Momo Wheel... No PS... Was fine tbh.

If your going to bin it, then put a manual rack in as its not like just having no pas,its extra heavy.

255mm wheel??? What, off a go kart!? That's a 10" wheel??? You're mad.

I had a 280mm wheel in a polo with power steering... tbh it wasn't the weight of the steering which was the issue... it was my knuckles scraping in the middle! lol.

Momo team and omp trecentos 280 and 300mm are overplayed, 255mm wheel is a race spec formula d wheel but its drilled for road car hubs, they do undrilled versions aswell lol will post pics once its in ;)

Yeah it's alright, just people aren't used to driving cars without power steering these days!

Haha the twingos the first car ive had with power steering, the pas on my 19 failed on me, the r5 dint have it nor did my swift gti or any of my older cars, i can live without it as its a small car if it was a big car i'd leave it in lol
