Power Steering Noise

My power steering has got noisy. It's a sort of squeaky noise, particulary on full lock.

What do you reckon, aux belt slipping?

I am also experiencing this, since i changed my timing belt and serpentine belt I have a sort of whirring noise from lock till about 1 turn back on the steering wheel. Any ideas?

skinner have you checked the tension of the aux belt, normally a loose aux belt is associated with that symptom

ive just had my aux belt and cam belt done,

when i start my car i get a slight sqeak like a belt slipping and now i have got a bad squeak when i put my power steering under load.

Does this sound like my aux belt is not tensioned correctly?

How hard is it to tension this belt?

Do you have a cup if so get the belt checked for tension they can go slack otherwsie get the pas fluid chnaged could be a fautly pump but the 172 suffers from to small a PAS pipe so it does affect them but belt tension and then fluid chnage would by my choice.

Mine seems to be doing this now - what a pain!

Neighbours right hacked off with me in the morning.

Is this likely to be tensioning? Since the squeeling steering does not feel the same.

Stealers confirmed problem as being water in the PAS, does this sound like the prob!?

Could you not replace the PAS fluid and see if that makes any difference?

Though water in the fluid, may have caused problems like corrosion?
