power steering noise....

Hi,

had my 17 inch alloys on for about 3 or 4 weeks now and lots of odd noises coming from my car that didnt used to be there. One such noise is coming from the power steering. every time I turn even just a bit, theres a whiney kind of screeching. Now i have a 99 1.6 16v (mk2 Phase1). So on this model will it be fluid or a fault with it? any ideas?

Just check the fluid level first.

It might just be a bit noisy because its having to work harder now....

changing the wheels or tyre sizes shouldnt make any difference to the power stearing at all . if its noisy id check the fluid as tom said or check the tension on the belt it might be slack or too tight
