Power Steering noise

Hi everyone

Mate has a J reg valver which makes loud whining noises when he turns, no leaks or anything have been noticed , tried a second hand PAS pump from a scrappy but still doing it. Sorry to be vague but any ideas ???

I think I know what this is.....air build up in the PAS system. What you need to do is bleed the system by doing the following:

Drive the car onto some think cardboard (or something similar) so that both front wheels are sitting on the board. Open the bonnet and take the cap off the PAS reservoir. One of you sit in the car with the ignition on but the engine off and turn the wheel from one lock to the other, what you should see is tiny bubbles of air being dispelled up into the reservoir. Turn the wheel lock to lock approx 12 times and then switch the engine on and do the same topping up the level as necessary.

Repeat this as many times as necessary until the whining noise stops. I did mine a few weeks ago and had to do it 5 times in all. The card is to stop you getting flat spots on your tyres. Good luck!

There is apparently a new valve that you can buy from renault to stop this !! Mine whines and pisses me off !! Ive bled the air out and it still does it !! Pretty much all valvers do it !! They also leak from the pressure cap onto the bonnet !!

Yeah mine does it its only noise! a small price to pay for a fantastic bit of kit!
