Pre-reg car?

I'm sure this is a simple question....

Excuse my ignorance, but i have seen mentioned on here a few times about 'pre-reg'd' cars.

What are they then?
and what would that mean if your car was pre-registered?

You wouldn't be the 1st owner.. the garage register's the car, so they are the 1st registered owner, you buy it "new" and you are the 2nd owner.

to meet there car targets, use them for demo, or to help us guys by giving us discount....

To meet sales targets iirc, they register it in a particular month so they meet the manufacturers targets, I think they get a bonus or something.
