Prep before wax?

  fiesta 1.25
Is using a cleanser or polish before applying wax an important stage.I have p21's and wil be fully washing the car first then applying a cg ex glaze then the p21's.If so would quick detail spray before the glaze be good enough to clean the paint?

I dunno if quick detailer would be enough.

Maybe clay bars the way ahead to start with, to give a good base. ;)

But woukd that take off all the previous wax.I dont want to polish it for the same reason i just want it clean so i can top up the wax.

For a wax to perform to its best and create a really good finish (instead of just being glossy from 10 foot away but poor up close) then the secret is all in the prep. Unless I am applying directly onto a wax (if I had done the week before, say) I would use a QD, and maybe a spray sealant such as CG Body Blitz. But, if not I would always use a mild cleanser (I use AG SRP or Sonus Paint Cleaner personally, but there are many similar such as Dodo Lime Prime, specifically made for waxes) before the wax.

Also, you mention you are using a glaze. Personally, I wouldn't at this time of the year as it will reduce the durability of the wax, as it won't bond as well to the base left from the SRP (or similar) stage.

Detailing spray won't clean the paint, you need a proper polish or pre wax cleaner/cleanser. All QD will do is maintain gloss.

As said - AG SRP is the product to be using this time of year, and ideally you want a sealant in there before wax esp. using something like P21s which is very poor in the durability stakes.

So using AG SRP and then something like a couple of layers of EGP before the P21s (or in my case, #16 for winter use)?

  Shed.
Ill be giving mine a good wash, srp, a single layer of egp and then a coat of dodo purple wax. that enough ?

ill also be sealing my alloys.

Will be ideal, 3 coats of EGP seems the optimum for me, need to be done with some time inbetween to allow them to bond and set up - AG say 24 hours

OR.........you could getts Jeffs or CG Body Blitz which works just as well, looks a bit better and will save yu enough time to make some kind of fort with things you find in your recycling bin...

Thats if you want to...
