price of a new clutch

i got a price for a new clutch for my clio today as my one is "on its last legs" according to the mechanic and the price came out at £223.84

is that about right or way too expensive?

Thats a bit steap.

Renault ones are £80 same as other motorfactories.

I am also interested in this, i was quoted 250 by a friend who is normally really cheap, but he said the clutch on the mk2 ph1's are a b**ch to do as you have to drop it out the bottom or something? (im no mechanic) so how much should a quote be?? 1.2 8v 1998???

If that is for fitting the clutch then its a reasonable price imo. Just phone around to see what prices other places would charge you.

My 182 is having new clutch next week......£399!!!! Count yourself lucky. Renault quoted me £650.

We got a clutch for a 1.2 mk2 ph1 8v from Europarts for £35 its a german make..the renault clutch is about £70 from europarts

autodata gives you 6, although i can do them in 3 by leaving subframe up and moving box to one side.

40 is the very minimum ive seen other than private jobs including myself which work out at about that,, but i wouldnt want to get involved in doing a clutch on the floor in my time off

i rang Carlton but they couldent fit me in for about a week! so i poped it into my dads local garage harrison brett in blackboy road
