Price???

Hi everyone, booked my car in to local renault specialist today for,
cambelt and pulleys,
auxiliary belt and pulleys,
water pump,
dephaser pulley.
i have been quoted £700, does this sound about right?

Sounds fair.

I payed £680 without water pump, but with an oil and filter change.

What garage are you using?

Ok thanks, it's called trade n save in Gloucester. A lot of money but will be worth it. They said the water pump can be changed without the belt being taken off at a later date but think ill get it all done together.

Pretty sure once the belt is put under tension and then slackened off, it has to be changed.

Doesn't sound very good to me.

Water pump is aux belt driven so you can change it without touching the timing belt but you may as well do it.

Yeah I know, just thought it was bad practice, because if that goes, it takes out the cambelt?

Yeah can do. 50/50 when an aux belt goes if it'll take your timing with it.

I always recommend CHanging the thermostat if the coolant is being changed. Make sure at that proce it's genuine parts, and genuine coolant. I charge £725 for the above inc thermostat.

don't touch the water pump, they almost never fail until a new one is fitted, then they become problematic.

May as well change it while they're at it.

I'm on my 2nd waterpump now, the bearing on it keep going.
