Prima 2.1 Engine Conversion for Valver

Does anyone know anything about this conversion?

Sounds interesting but no-one seems to have had it done so would there be any issues with it?

Would this likely to be more rewarding rather than putting a megane bottom end on my 1.8 considering cost?

Also how much more power over a 2ltr could it make?

have heard of 1 being done quite a few years back.........not successfully either..........think hill power were doin some work tryin to sort it, was runnin throttle bodies as well IIRC

was poor tho, better off with the megane btm end mate tbh

Saw a 16v in Redline a couple of years back, was some tennis instrucor guy who had the 2.1 with throttle bodies by Prima, was supposed to make 230 bhp!

Ok then, ill steer clear of that idea then! Sounds a nice idea but there obviously issues....or maybe prima just didnt do the best job?

you cant do it on the 1.8 block, well lets never say cant but it is very hard to do it on the 1.8 block. You need the 2.0 crank and to make that fit in the 1.8 block it requires a lot of work which causes weak points.

It is not meant to give that much of a benefit to be worth the month tho. All it is is slightly wider pistons and the block gets a slight bore. Nothing to get too excited about. I was going to do it, but decided against it.

Oh and as for getting it running right, dont think it was anything to do with the 2.1, just the management that was being used.

2.1 ltrs is actually only 2064cc and not worth anything but the highest spec racing engine where the extra ccs do count.

Making a 1.8 a 2.0 isnt hard, but there is far more work to create crank clearance int he 1.8 block. Also the 1.8 block isnt as stiff, not that it matters really.

I wouldnt think the conversion would actually include any sort of TBs and management. Just the capacity increase.

If anybody is interested in it than either me or andy GDI are more than happy to offer the service.

POA.

Its a custom build so its a custom cost.

TYpically if you only want the upped capacity its the piston kit, the new bearings, labour and machininig costs......allong with supplies like gaskets, bolts, oil etc etc.

on the Prima site they have the 2.1 pistons which is all it is. They obviously would do a conversion, but that would include other things that you have to decide on, like chip, or ecu and so on.

The 2.1 that everyone was talking about that came from Prima, i am pretty sure that it was the management used which caused it not to run right.

Thats what i was talking about Ben the crank clearance, so machining needs done to the 1.8 block, how much i dont know.

And as Ben said contact him or Andy, i dont mind saying that is where i get ALL my information about engines lol

yeah think they also used the now nearly sorted webber alpha setup lol

but wasnt it done from a 2.0 block jus smaller pistons/reworked crowns to give the extra cc??

not that hard to do is it
