Primering wheels

  Tango'd PB 1.2 16V
Due to being a tight tw*t i'm gonna refurb my 172 wheels myself.
Seen as i'd save a good £140 at least.
Which i suppose, could be well spent on a sport interior, or a new exhaust.
Anyhooo.
Main question is about primer.
I've done a fair bit before and i'm not that bad at it, but thats all been plastic stuff.
I had some trouble spraying my front badge cause that was metal plated, and normal primer just formed a skin and peeled off.
But i was wondering is there a special sort of primer to use on alloys, as in aluminium or metal primer?
I was just gonna get some acrylic primer?
Also, whats best wet+dry routine for them?
Cheers.

I've just always used standard primer from a car part's shop, which I assume is fine for metal, as I've never had a problem.

Plastic primer would be your problem, i.e normal halfords primer will be fine!

I basically:

Sand to f**k with whatever is necessary
Finish this with 800
Primer
If primer is PERFECT (never is) then paint
If primer is not perfect, sand back bits of primer with 800, go over all the "bad" bits and just go over the wheel a bit in general if you really want.
Paint, 2 coats minimum
Check paint, if it's not perfect, I sometimes hit it with 1500/1200
Lacquer, at least 2 coats
