Got the car booked in to charlie on the 10th of next month for the above work.
anyone had a stealth exhaust from Charlie? Pics If so.
What gains would I see from it? Should I get Decat or sports cat?
Does charlie offer the decat, sports cat service?

Good choice, yep he can sports cat or decat.
problem is if you decat he cuts the original cat up which is an arse because ideally you would want to keep the cat for MOT time. Personally I'd just get the cat-back and then buy a de-cat pipe else where and keep your original cat for MOT's

But if I buy a sports cat, am I right in saying that will pass MOTs?
I did have an in depth convosation with him today, but I forgot to ask him about the De-cat sports cat bit.
Obviously hes shut now!

De-Cat is potentially an MOT failure due to emissions. A Sports Cat is not a guaranteed pass, but is better than a decat (as they're not strictly legal :quiet A decat is better due to less restrictions on the air, but every 12 months you'll have to take it off for the day for the MOT...and if you have a prang, insurance probably won't cover you!

Some places 'allow' it as a modification...but the condition is that your car is in a roadworthy condition...so if your car is in a condition where it would fail an MOT would assume that your policy is null and void! With a decat in...its an MOT failure (unless you know the right people! )

I personally wouldn't risk it. Sports Cat is a better way to go IMHO.

swings and roundabouts , basically if the car has an decat it might fail the emissions test
failing the m.o.t thus voiding the insurance :S

Back last November when I got mine done I was charged £320 (should be around £380) but because of the Word of Mouth business he gets from CS, he gives us the discount. :approve:

That is for the standard build, obviously if there are other options (don't know what on a stealth exhaust) then he will try and work them into the bargain.

He's altered the design slightly now, so that where the silencer meets the pipe, there is a cone type design (to allow more metal to be in contact due to larger circumfernence [sp?]) which shouldn't allow to the failure.
