PROBLEM (16V) - HELP

just drove it home, got a funny whistly sqealy noise on acceleration and deceleration sounds like comin from the engine and pullin away in 1st going up from 1500 to 3500 revs it was jumpy and juddery every so often. any ideas?

cheers

its still doing it! and sounds like a have a dump valve!

seems to go when all up to temperatures just when first started cold

help???

Right, it may be a fule leak mate - that would explain the jumpy feeling as the fuel pressure is not at a constant when you accelerate. It may also be a prob with your gearbox (horrible i know) as it may be slipping in and out of gear SLIGHTLY when the engine is cold and not fully lubricated with oil.

Doh, yeh that could be it too! I would certainly explain the whistling if your breaks arent unclamping and especially the juddery ride. Mine stick a little and i get he judder tho not the whistle as loud as you are talking!

the brakes are workin fne. but could be brake line? or a problem on the inlet manifold as it stops when heated up so metals expanded i guess?

its still runnin power fine it seems though

Inlet manifold expanding?

The brake servo hose is connected to the inlet manifold and a leak would bleed unmetered air into the engine making it judder.

but normally you would notice a loss in your brakes as well. what about the idle valve pipe? is that split or adrift?

well it sounds like the noise is created by the engine as in a air leak, espicially seeing as it isnt quite running right as well. can you get somebody to rev it whislt you have a listen under the bonnet?

Thought that, but the servo hold a resevior so unless he was touching the brakes after ever application of the throttle then they might just seem a tad harder.

yes see what you mean but the servo only has enough reserve for a couple of presses of the pedal and if the leak is bad enough to be heard from inside the car it would be doubtful if it would recover due to the loss created by the leak. hard to say though really without actually hearing it,isnt it.

ok nothin wrong with brakes.

nothin wrong with power

car seems to be running fine all the time now.

but still the noise and we cant make out where from!
