Problem fitting standard 182 head unit

Hi, I am trying to put my 182's audio back to standard. I have managed to get hold of a standard Renault head unit from my mates 182 and I have the code for it aswell.

However, when I plug the head unit in I am not getting any display on the dash next to the clock. I am not sure which of the 2 sockets the smaller connector (which I assume is for the remote and display) is supposed to go into - I have tried it in both but with no joy.

The head unit is powered because pressing buttons on it does make it beep, but I get no response from the steering wheel remote...

So I can't even get to the stage of putting the security code in yet. Any suggestions anyone? I need music back!

Did you have an aftermarket headunit in before? If so, you will need to take the dashboard out and re - connect the display. See this thread: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?414936-Quick-answer-please-ICE-content-)&highlight=

It was fitted with an after market head unit, I have changed this a couple of times - but now looking to go back to standard.

Are you saying you think that the cable for the display has been removed?

Also would this be linked with my remote appearing to be non-functional?

Also you may find that you require an update list and he had tuner list or vice-versa

If your aftermarket h/u worked with your stalk controls, it would have an interface fitted, therefore the cars loom which connects to the clocks, would have been disconnected and attached to a stalk adapter. If the case, remove the stalk adapter, and connect the spare connector to the empty slot on reverse of the clock. I'm 99% sure thats what your problem is... :S
