Problem with an over reving engine

  Mk2 Blue Clio 1.6i 16V
Hi all,

I've a problem with my clio, with an over reving engine, seems to be mainly from cold.

Start the car and the rev settles at about 1500 rpm, drive off and pull up to a junction and its hitting 2000 rpm, as alot of the roads I drive on at start stop for round abouts and junctions, I have this problem all the way to work. Each time I pull up you can watch the rev's moving at frist between 1500 & 2000 and once its warned up between 1000 & 1500, and it'll never settle to the 750 idle speed.

I'm having to take my local Renault Trained Tech out tomorrow to show him the prob, as they can't find a fault on the clip, but was wondering if any body else has had this kind of rev prob or something similar.

Mate, I had the issue twice, both times happening when coming back from the beach. Both times I had given it a good thrash and then after it started to settle little by little, by the next two days it was fine. Wonder if this can fix you too. It may be like the throtle is not coming back completely. A few WOTs could make it read its range again. Has worked for me in the past but still wonder what happened

The garage has done several injector updates, its back in again tomorrow,

They've had the throttle body off, and cleaned it.

The throttle is manual cable, not drive by wire.
