Problem with my desktop PC

Not sure why its happening, but i recently reinstalled/reformated my C Drive, so i have a clean copy of windows installed on it.

It was working fine for a few days, then i went away and didn't use it for 3 days, then came back to switch it on, and it doesn't get past the Windows XP loading bit... it just stops and my monitor switches to sleep mode, and the computer just stops working.

Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

However, before, there was a problem with my new monitor, it didn't happen until a few weeks after i bought and fitted it, I would be happily using it, then he monitor will switch to sleep mode, as it recognises there is no input, then a few seconds later, the computer restarts itself...

Weird, but why is this happening??

Sounds a driver issue mate

Have you tried booting into safe mode to see if that works ok?

Could try last known good configuration as well

Yea tried last known good configuration but that did the same.

Will try safe mode later...

Wen i get through and past that bit, and able to use the computer, what should i do from there?... as in checking drivers are up to date?.. i have updated my video card driver as far as i know

Go into safe mode and remove the video driver and then try to get back into the windows the normal way

It could be that driver causing the issue

you can get into safe mode? hmm... i would run a windows repair on it and see what happens...will prob resolve it, if not, could be a bit more serious.

Right, some progress here!

Got into safe mode, so i tried restarting and going in normally, and its worked!

What should i do from here?

Right, updated my video card driver again, and seems to be working better than ever!...

Just my fans on my computer are really loud now.... need to switch some off now.... to make it a bit more quieter!

I did recently buy 1 gbs worth of RAM, but when i put it in, the comptuer started having problems, so i took them out and put my old ones back in.

What can i do so that the 1gb ones work?... whats the problem?

BIOS config mate for the new memory

Have you got your bios set to auto or manual settings for memory?

Auto should do it but if not you will have to find the exact settings for the memory via the manufacturer
