Problems after CAM & AUX belt change

  Arctic Blue 182 Baby!
I had the CAM + AUX belts done on the car a few weeks ago and its took me a while to realise that the car just isnt as responsive as it use to be and seems down on power.

For example before it was done when pulling out of junctions and nailing it in first the front tryes would spin even on damp roads (I assume all clio sports are like this), but now its just very sedate and not even a wince of trye spinage :( even in the very wet! There is also flat spots when accelerating.

Could this be due to the car being timed worng after changing the CAM belt?

^ what he said, sounds a possibility the timing is not 100%.

Have you taken it back to the garage in question? That would be my first thing to do!

I am sure they will be willing to help resolve the problem!

The garage was a main renault dealer and the car is going in today for looking at tomorrow morning. I just hope they dont come back and say everything is fine when I know it isnt. Hopefully an experiaced mechanic can check it!

You say that, we are in the process of fitting a secondanh engine to a 172 at the min!

Was swapping the belt on the floor, tipex everywhere, lol, blatantly hadn't had the correct timing tools!

Tensioner was miiiiiiiiles away.

FLOL! Was that the one with teeny-tiny issues with two of its pistons? ;)

I corrected one like that done by a "specialist". Owner was effectively told to f**k off when he called to say it was wrong.

How NOT to fit a cambelt tensioner

yeah, well kind of. it's obscuring the marks you have to align. God knows how many they've cocked up :(.

They claimed it "can't be wrong, we have the right tools". Makes no difference if you dont know how to use them.

lol, mine wasnt that bad!!! was probably 7-8mm out!!!

Darren, yes it was the mullered one! Removed the piston yesterday as he wants it as a paperweight!

You can look right through it!! lol!

Probably not that different from the state of mine, Sideways can confirm someone fucked it up when they did it!!

Jay, engine was out to fix this ;)

Callis, yeah yours was tip top. Crank pin was put in a balancing drilling when they timed it from what i can work out. (I align the cams first if possible, then see how far the crank is out)

clutch fell apart, smashed 2 chunks out of the flywheel somehow. I think it was the pressure plate flapping to and fro, hitting the cover bolts.
