Problems with 2001 Clio atfer MOT and Service

  Clio
Hello all

I just had my 2001 Clio Grande serviced and the MOT done.
The MOT failed because a light had broken there were a few advisory items which I decided to get done too.
I had the front brake disc and pads changed
I had the spark plugs changed too.
2 new tires

I have noticed some problems now after this

1) The engine revs to about 1000RPM after I lift my foot off the brake. So if I put my car in neutral and then push the brake down and up the car revs to about 1000 rpm from about 700.
2) The car sometimes shakes when I push my foot down on the clutch.
3) When I start moving the car forward in first gear I hear a clunking sound, sometimes one and sometimes a few short ones. It seems to be worse when turning a corner while starting off.
4) The new brakes seem a lot worse than my old ones, I think they dont stop as quick. I imagine this is because they are new and need some time to break in?

Any suggestions guys

1 - 1000rpm is a normal idle for one of these engines and pressing the brake works the vacuum in the mainfold ( assuming a petrol ) which will cause it to idle slightly lower !

2 - is this when slowing down or is it taking up drive standing still etc?

3- sounds like you may have a cv joint on the way out mate !

4- all brakes req bedding in to some degree , they will feel worse for approx 100 -
1000miles IMO (1000 is very high thought should be better before that)

tha garage that changed them should have mentioned that you should take it easy for a while and brake in advance !

Hope this helps a little !
